At the Logansport First Church of the Nazarene, we believe there is a niche waiting just for YOU! But what can you do? Aside from taking part in a Bible study, we have plenty of other opportunities for you to get involved with our church. To learn more about these ministries and outreach programs, scroll down this page to see which one right for you.
Volleyball
The Nazarene volleyball teams meet in the Family Life Center once a month on Saturdays starting January 2024 and June at 6PM. Players of all ages are invited.
Want to be a spectator? We also have a nice group of "cheerleaders" sitting on the sideline supporting their team.
Family Fun Night
Every so often, the Sunday School board will host several Family Fun Nights in the Family Life Center. Families are encouraged to come together for a time for fellowship, finger foods, and games. Depending on the demand, players from the volleyball teams or the cornhole squads will call for anyone who might be interested in a game or two!
Music
Are you musically inclined? Do you like to sing? Can you play an instrument? If so, why not be part of our music department.
Each month, we rotate a strong songleader for both Sunday morning and evening services. The praise band, on the other hand, is stationary, but attendance for both services is not required. The current band is comprised of a piano, organ, two electric guitars, and a rhythm guitar. Practice for the forthcoming services occur every Thursday at 6PM unless announced otherwise.
Do you love to serve the Lord through music? Let us know! We're always looking for new talent!
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive
The First Church of the Nazarene is a proud participant in the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive. From October to mid-November, shoeboxes are filled with small gifts for boys and girls everywhere. The boxes are then taken to the local hosting pick-up center to be delivered.
If you are unable to purchase plenty of gifts to fill a standard shoebox or if you feel uncertain about what kind of gift a child might like, you may also write a check to Samaritan's Purse as a monetary donation. Remember, a shoebox full of tiny toys might be the only gift a child will get this Christmas.
Salvation Army
In addition to Samaritan's Purse, we are also proud to be affiliated with the local Salvation Army. Twice a year, we recruit volunteers to lend a helping hand with their outreach efforts to the community.
Like many others during the holidays, we participate in the Red Kettle Drive at Rural King in December. Then, every Thursday throughout the month of March, we set aside one hour in the afternoon to volunteer in the Lord's Cupboard food pantry.
Sign-ups for these two great opportunities begin in November and February, respectively. Do you wish to volunteer more? Contact the Salvation Army and ask what you can do.
The most important thing a person can do to get involved in the church is to, above all, pray. And that is exactly what the Church of the Nazarene does best. We have an incredible prayer ministry waiting for you. Got an urgent prayer request? There is a prayer line that goes out via telephone to our congregants, urging them to include your request in their daily prayers and to foward it to the next congregant on the calling list. We also publish all current and upcoming requests on the back of our bulletin for you to follow throughout the week.
In addition, there are also several card ministries to uplift you with a word of encouragement. Your Sunday School teacher might also visit you from time to time for various circumstances.
No matter what the need may be, you can be sure we will pray for you.

All-Church Bowling Tournament
Bowlers, polish those shoes and get ready to hit the lanes! The Nazarene "holy rollers" meet once a year at Myers Sport Bowl for a friendly 2-game match. Divisions include men, women, youth, and children. Sign-up and advanced payment begin one month prior to the tournament. Following the tournament, bowlers are invited to return to the church for snacks, refreshments, and fellowship. Winners are announced (and must be present) that following Sunday morning. Watch the newsletter or the calendar to see when the next tournament will take place!
